Head and Tail Light Advice
I am looking at replacing my both the headlight and tail-light assemblies on my 2000 Civic EX. Lately I have been considering styling my vehicle to be a take on the Impreza.
That in mind, I would like the most long lasting and durable (LED I am assuming) components I can get, but I am also interested in HID headlights, and possibly angel-eye or some other style.
I know this is pretty broad, but I was wondering if anyone had any advice on where to look, or what to look at.
Thanks!

If you want LED tail lights, what I think would look good is customizing the stock ones to have LEDs in them. You can get good quality LED strips on oznium.com for great prices.
Someone on here recently discovered this HID site: www.xenonlink.com
They are relatively less expensive than most other HID setups, and if you get the bixenon ones they have a little motorized plate on the bulb that moves when you switch on the brights so that it can shine upwards more. I think those would be good for controlling glare better since they have the little plates that are in the way while on low beam that cuts off the top of the beam.
My favorite headlights are these: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/99-00...DVW#ht_801wt_0
I think they'd look good on any civic. They're like stock but with a black housing.
IDK what body style your civic is so make sure you check listings, and i'm sure you can find them cheaper than that if you look around ebay more.

I do like those headlights, so for HID, I would just buy those, then buy the xenon bulbs right? or would there be a bit more work to make sure I wasn't blinding other drivers, and was getting maximum visibility from my bulbs?
As for the tail lights, I have to replace the housings themselves, as one of them was damaged by a kid and a rock a while back. I figure I will probably tart them up a little bit. Not really looking for anything too ridiculous though. Just something a bit more eye catching than the 4dr sedan look I have now.
oh and its a 00 4dr civic Ex.
thanks for the input though, and more is always appreciated!

Well, it'll glare a little bit more than projectors would, but truthfully I don't usually like the way projectors look and I see them way too much. As long as you point the beam down a little more than normal it should be fine, and since they're brighter than stock and shine farther, you won't need them pointed as high anyway. They'll still shine better than stock bulbs. You need a kit, including the ballasts and bulbs, not just the bulbs.
Your bulb size is H4.
If you want to still be able to use brights you'll want the H4 bi-xenon kit.
I wouldn't buy the H4 Hi/Low HID kit, i've heard the brights on those suck because there's a halogen bulb and HID bulb, and when you switch to brights it turns the halogen one on and turns off the HID.
If you don't care about brights, just get the H4 Hi/Low HID kit.
I think it's worth the extra $20 though to get the bi-xenon.
Here's a pic of the HID colors they offer on that site

I'm not into flashy taillights though so I don't really have any suggestions.

just fyi, just sticking HID bulbs in any headlightis illegal and dangerous. for example tyc makes tons of projector headlights, but they are designed for halogen bulbs not HID bulbs. it goes pretty in deapth into the physics of light and refraction blah blah blah, but basically they will glare a lot and not produce an ideal beam pattern. its still illegal, but the only safe way to do HID lights is to retrofit an oem projector into either aftermarket or stock headlight housings. you have to cut apart the housing, put the projectors in and make a shroud. tsx projectors seem to be popular, but you can use pretty much any oem projector that uses HID lights.

Does someone make a fixture that fits a civic and is also just ready to go with an ideal set up for HID lights?

I doubt it. It's illegal to put HIDs on a vehicle that was previously not equipped with them. (just don't get caught and don't draw attention to your headlights from police). The projectors have a cut off line in the lens so they're probably the best thing for that, besides a retrofit or OEM HIDs.

thats the thing about just sticking hid lights in any old housing, they are nearly impossible to keep from blinding everyone. if you really compare a stock hid light and a "hid kit" its like night and day, pardon the pun. a hid kit glares like crazy and sticks out like a sore thumb, buta retrofit looks just like an oem hid light.

it is illegal, but the cops wont stop you unless they really want to give a ticket, or if your blinding everyone
