how do u put on a body kit?
key I was watching pimp my ride the one with the 240sx and the guy said it cost more to install his bodykit than it did to buy it so how do u put them on? do you just screw it on to the cars body?
its best to get a shop to do it. body kits are notorious for not fitting right, and a shop can make it work and look good. ive seen a lot of kids running around with jacked up kits cause they didnt want to pay to have it done right. oh yeah, and come on guys, ya cant put off the paint.
yeah, but ive seen some (Read: a lot) that dont line up even close. they are usually the really cheap ones, but still, when the body shop does it, it comes out looking perfect, and if anything starts cracking or falling apart, you can blame them, not your own questionable installation. if you put it on, then the paint starts to crack, you pay for the new paint. if they put it on then paint it, and it starts to crack or peel, its obviously their fault, so its cheaper or free to get it fixed.
I've done a lot of research and talking to a lot of professionals about this subject too. First off, you would want to get a polycarbonate body kit, not a fiberglass one. The paint cracks off of the fiberglass ones really easily. Of course, for this, you will need to use the special poly paint so it looks right!
When a body shop mounts a body kit, I guess they don't just drill a few holes. I talked to some people and they use this special panel adhesive or whatever to mold it all together after they bolt it on. The guy I talked to also said that this panel adhesive stuff is stronger than welding so I would probably let them do it lol if they mess it up they'll pay for it! Two shops said that it would cost me right around $1000 for them to mount the kit and put a base coat and several layers of clear coat on the whole entire car including the body kit. It doesn't seem like a bad deal since base coat clear coat is a more expensive paint job.

yeah, most places charge AT LEAST 250 to spray a bumper cover, so a G for the install and a good paint job doesnt sound bad to me. but it sounds like too much for my car. thats why im stickin to performance stuff.
oh. ok. maybe look into that bumper glue then. ill try to ask my father-in-law. he used to be a bodyman when he was growing up. i dunno if he ever got into the "kits" though. but it should be somewhat similar to a bumper i guess. i dunno. ill ask.
