I thought of this and im actually starting to play with it... also its not that expensice process either. Here goes:

I figured, since in the 6th gen's the radio bezel is double-din, why not go out and get a cheap 7" monitor that goes in the dash when the car turns off, but have it wired to a night vision camera mounted in the bottom grill in the front bumper so i can see down the road at night when its really dark and no one is around. But my delimma is that i need to find a night vision camera that can see far enough down the road (at least 150 yards) and wide enough for over 2 lanes. Other than that, its an extremly simple and easy process.

Good call on the screen, not the night vision though. Drop the side mirrors and replace them with cameras.

 

Uhh, so do you plan on driving around in the dark without your headlights on?

 

one up it by spending a buttload more money and getting an infra-red camera. then you could see a little kid or a dog about to run out in front of you. i have no idea what it would cost though. probably a lot.

 

Hmmm wow... I didnt think of that. So basically, even with a night vision camera under the head lights in the grill of the lower bumper it would blind it wouldnt it? I completly didnt think of that lol! Im really trying to go with the thing that cadillac has gone for and the new acura. So infra red eh? ill look into it.

You could install both, and have a little toggle switch so you can flip back and forth. I'm pretty sure the headlights will blind the nighvision one, especially the headlights of oncoming traffic. But you could have it just to be cool.

 

Well, I want it mainly because my family owns about 8k acres down here ( in bum f*** egypt and its an 1 1/2 hr drive that is LOOOOOOAAADEDDDD with deer on the way... also, of course its a cool factor, I have NEVER come across anybody with the kinda thing that I have come up with.

 

I read this earlier and found(on google) a few sony night vision capable surviallance type cameras. Just turn the head lights off and enjoy the peace. You did say it was in Bum F* Egypt.

 

You could mount a 7 foot pole off the front of your car and mount the NV camera on that. That way you avoid the headlights blinding the camera. Of course, that'd be stupid right?

 

kind of reminds me of the story of a guy getting caught going 210 down a highway in nevada. he was in a lambo with its headlights off and was driving by wearing night vision goggles
