Default Interior recolour, take 2

I have just spent $100 on paints and topcoats and primer to recolour the plastics in my civic. I attached a picture of how far I got. It looks good, really shiny, except I doubt its going to last. Its really high gloss but it is already starting to chip in places like the scuff pannels by the doors. Im going to take it all out and use some thinners and clean all the paint off and just use vinyl dye on it instead to darken it all up. My boss sugested I use it because it doesnt chip or anything so I think that is the way to go. Maybe accept for the parcel shelf. That can stay in high gloss cause its not going to get chipped up there. And the parts on the top of the handle for the glove box, I didnt miss them, its just the glare cause its so glossy.

And why cant you just let it all chip off and let it go back to normal?

Looks good. Black is a good color to go for.

it either is or he reversed the picture

tho with painting a dash.... i always say it looks so much beter sanded down smooth and then painted...

and also with painting the dash and other parts... try not to go cheap spray paint.... typical car paint sprayed from a real paint gun and if ya can use some hardener mixed in with the paint after the pieces are sanded smooth...
the paint gets layed on so much thicker and just doesnt chip as easy

hell i spray painted my old trucks dash trim pieces and well my moms dogs nails chiped the paint off like MAD.LOL

NOTE: Im on aussie. We know what side of the road you are supose to drive on . Yea our cars are right hand drive.
I am gonna just let it all chip off cause I cant afford dye to redo it all so Im just gonna leave it as is until I can. And Ive lined someone up to do a dash and door retrim. Itll be black to match and I might get the anarchy symbol ?embossed? into the passenger side dash, and stitched into the seats. Thats the name of my car, and the plates are ANRCHY.

to scuff the surface a bit and make sure you use a paint that has a flexing bond. That way the paint wont chip off

thats why i always say scuff stuff (plastic prep used on plastic bumpers) and scotch brite pads that will clean it enough so the paint can bond to the plastic and won't chip

No it is sticking all right. I cleaned them up well and everything, but just the abuse is causing some problems, like where i dropped my tool box onto it. The only places it is starting to show signs or premature aging is where its been signifigantly struck with something. Its a flexible UV resistant paint, pretty good expensive stuff, and primed with plastic primer, and acrylic topcoat clear. Most of it is fine, infact, as you can see from the pic, it produces quite a nice finish, but I just having the feeling that it is not going to last. I figure Im just going to let it be for a while and if it is still going strong in a few months, than I will just respray the damaged pieces, and if it all peals off, well, what can you do, Ill just strip it and start over with dye.
