RE: LED Dash light
In the picture the LEDs look just a litlte bright... in real life are they pretty evenly lighted? Do you have a stock dash? Was there soldering involved in doing this?

RE: LED Dash light

for gauge i like these type of leds.... they spread out the light alot easier :D http://www.superbrightleds.com/mini-wedge.html WLED-x5 LED Wedge Base Bulbs those put a preaty nice......... i need to pull my gauges and see if i can pull them apart to fit in some cold cathodes.... tahts what i wanna try! |

RE: LED Dash light
Glad I could help. I think I might have a solution for your "hot spots". You used water clear leds right? If you take some 800 grit sandpaper and sand the led it will diffuse the light.
Here are some pics. First with out the sanding. http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h2...r/IMG_0162.jpg http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h2...r/IMG_0159.jpg And now with the sanding. http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h2...r/IMG_0161.jpg http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h2...r/IMG_0160.jpg They will still be nice and bright, but the light will not be so concentrated. Hope it helps. You should still be able to do this with the LEDs you have already installed. Dont sand them too much. All you want to do is make them hazy. Good luck. PM if you have any questions. |
RE: LED Dash light
^^man that's smart thinking there windcalmer. lol. i was gonna suggest mini mirrors, but your idea is much better. oh, and EJ, it looks good. even better when you get the hot spots out of there.

RE: LED Dash light
Thanks. When you have been playing around with all this stuff as long as I have, you have pretty much tried it all.
