Default LED Dash light

ok guys.... i installed the blue LED lights for my gauge lights, the look cool, thanks to WINDCALMER, for sending the link for onzium.com,( sorry crappy pic, phone camera was in use)......... let me know what you all think

In the picture the LEDs look just a litlte bright... in real life are they pretty evenly lighted? Do you have a stock dash? Was there soldering involved in doing this?

well thats one bad thing about leds..... they have preaty bad hot spots
for gauge i like these type of leds.... they spread out the light alot easier

those put a preaty nice.........

i need to pull my gauges and see if i can pull them apart to fit in some cold cathodes.... tahts what i wanna try!

yes i have a stock dash, and yes soldering is involved... soldering is not bad tho.... i mean i really didnt know how to solder, but i learned.... when i was 13 i think...

yeah, i hate the hot spots too.... but i think i can get rid of it, just have to put my mind into it, just have to think of the best way to do it, seems like if i put some kind of lens cap or something, ill figure it out

Glad I could help. I think I might have a solution for your "hot spots". You used water clear leds right? If you take some 800 grit sandpaper and sand the led it will diffuse the light.

Here are some pics.

First with out the sanding.



And now with the sanding.



They will still be nice and bright, but the light will not be so concentrated. Hope it helps. You should still be able to do this with the LEDs you have already installed. Dont sand them too much. All you want to do is make them hazy. Good luck. PM if you have any questions.

^^man that's smart thinking there windcalmer. lol. i was gonna suggest mini mirrors, but your idea is much better. oh, and EJ, it looks good. even better when you get the hot spots out of there.

Thanks. When you have been playing around with all this stuff as long as I have, you have pretty much tried it all.


No Life + Electronics = Good installer.

windcalmer, ... dude your pretty freaking smart.... i wouldnt have thought about that....now... my vtec light.......i put itin the wrong damn place, when it kicks in.... it blinds the crap out of me!! lol once again wind thanks bro !!
