LED Dash light
o ya.. those leds aint no joke about light output for sure!!!!!!!
i did my truck gauges like that... soldered in all green leds even in my instrument lights cause i removed the old stock overlay and put on a lighted overlay but the intruments where all clear then. and man when those turn signal or bright lights where indicated WOWWWWWWWWW blinding.LMFAO
i took the gauges out and bent the leds to the sides so they didnt straight up blind me anmore.
good idea on the sanding...
one thing ive heard of is grinding down the tips..... BUT ive never seen any progress pics... but if ya got some extra leds just experiment with a little dremel.
i wanna try and fit some cold cathodes inside the cluster... i hope i can take it apart to squize them in!!!!!!

well thats one bad thing about leds..... they have preaty bad hot spots
for gauge i like these type of leds.... they spread out the light alot easier

i need to pull my gauges and see if i can pull them apart to fit in some cold cathodes.... tahts what i wanna try!

well only picture i have of it right now... had somemore but cannt find them now..
and no these leds dont just twist in... you have to solder them directly to the board.... BUT if you buy from the SUPERBRIGHTleds link they have some that should just twist right into the stock spots with no wiring needed.
but those multi direction firing leds would be your best bet for a more even glow... but those are a bit more money

BUT well worth it....
with my gauges pictured from my truck i removed the needles and sanded the orange off them so they where clear. with the overlay the leds look realy nice!
but before the overlay they had those bad hot spots also..
oooo your in luck i found my just led picture on another site

tho for my civic i dont wanna do any overlays cause white on a black car is freaken UGLY!!!!!!!
now if they had a black or carbon fiber over lay id be all over that!
ok so i sanded the led's to gwet rid of hot spots.... made alot of difference IMO ( thanks to windcalmer) here"s some before and after pic..... last 2 is after.... alot less hot spots
