There are just as many bad dealers over the web as there are on ebay. The same number of people get ripped off from online stores as they do ebay, same difference.

There is a lot of knockoff brand items, but there are also low quality offbrands on all sites, you just don't see them as often depending on the way you search. If you're a smart shopper and read the fine print, ebay is as safe as online shopping gets. People just need to figure that out.
