Are the under-car neon lights illigel or legal?

 

it differs from state to state, but at the least blue and red will be illega. Around here any color is illegal, including LEDs on the mirrors, but you'll havta check your state laws to see if any color are legal at all. They are legal when you're parked though.

 

it does vary from state to state but the rule of thumb is if you can see the bulb they are illegal, thats how it is most places. if the bulb is hidden and only the light shows its usually ok. blue or red flashing orblue or red bulbs visible in the grill or headlightsis illegal everywhere

Anyway, most states depend on color I think but mostly you can only turn them on when you are on private property and have permission from the owner of that property. (ie. no driving on public roads with them turned on) I also think that you cannot pass an inspection if you have them so you are going to have to find some way around getting your car inspected, at least that is what I had to do when I had neons, but I'm not going to share how I pulled that off, sorry.

 

i know i know.. you live in a state like tn where there are zero car inspections

That's what I've always heard. You can have as many lights as you want when you're parked, but not driving, because it's a distraction.

 

Distracting to other drivers and if you do a combo of red and blue you can be accused of impersonating a police officer.

 

yeah i got pulled over for my blue LEDs on my mirrors and the cop said i was "impersonating a police vehhicle". I looked behind me and he had the SAME EXACT LED's on his mirrors haha luckily they were on a switch, i just flipped them off and he let me go. Underbody are distracting to other drivers though.

 

ok in Norht carolina, thats were i live. they said you can have any colored lights as long as they are not RED,BLUE,WHITE. and if they are any other color they can not be blinking. i know this becasue i asked and called the police department!!!!! i got tired of not knowing. and you can drive them on the road as long as they are n0ot blinking. and as far as in spection i have no clue. BUT THIS IS IN NORTH CAROLINA
