if it is a dx it is not v-tec unless someone did a mini-me swap (taking the head off of a y8 and putting it on a y7) you have the d16y7

^^ If your car is stock, DX = d16y7. Just look at where the trans meets the bottom portion of the block. It should be inscribed on there.

^^ 96 Civic... First find out exactly what you need, then go to ebay and do a search for each one separately to get an estimated price. Done. Also, look at your local CL, someone might have a z6 or y8 head for cheap.

My body of the car is mint for a ten year old car and i was wondering what all V-Tech engines would fit in a full engine swap?

dude if you have questions, use our search feature first, and if you can't find an answer then start your own thread. Please don't thread jack. People will not notice your post or will simply ignore it if it is off the topic of the thread. not trying to be mean, but this was 96 civic dx's thread and should remain so

and to answer you question, not 100% of vtec engines will fit your car, but there a lot of them out there that will. There are way too many options available for me to list all of them now. search our engine and internals section and the ek swaps area for a lot more info

the d16y7 is the slowest motor for that gen. the hx model has even more hp than it
but for a easy swap the d16y8 is the best sohc for that gen. it has 125bhp
