hey man no you dont i just painted mine about a month ago, if you take it off and it doesnt break then your good but if it does you dont want to be leaking oil all over the place when you put it back on. so yeah have fun doing it, what color?

I really think it depends on the situation. If the gasket is old and broken up....replace it, if you replaced it 10,000 miles ago, most likely it will be fine. It is more of a rubber seal than a gasket and does not break like the old cork gaskets do.

well i dont think its ever been replaced, and im at about 91,000km on my 2000....but i guess when i do it,if it looks all shatty then ill replace it,if not, stick it back on..if i think its causing problems i can always take it off and stick in a new one...thanks team
