Default Painting the whole thing...

I drive a 97 Honda Civic Ex...right now it's green. I'm thinking about painting it - it has some scratches in it (damned wal mart carts). Should I go for a different color, I really like the SI blue. I know it'll vary depending on the state, but what is a good price for a decent paint job. What things should I know about auto painting when I go and talk to the shop guys? Thanks!

you get what you pay for... it will cost a lot more to change the color, and to make it come out good, without haveing any old color showing/ overspray. iv change the color of a car once, it sucked.

i got a quote for a hook-up paintjob from a guy i know, and for a high-quality one where i provide the paint, and strip the car down to the chassis and deliver it on a trailer, he would do it for $3000.

it would normally cost around 7-8k for the same paintjob. its a show quality job. i could get it done for less than a grand, but i want to get it done, and never be walking to my car and think "damn, i wish i would have payed a little more and gotten it perfect." when i see orange peel or something on it. oh, and that price was inside and out. everything but the engine bay, which i already painted.

alls i know is that if your gunna get it painted a different color, dont cheap out on doing the door jambs and stuff like that, and also, make sure you get some kind of warrinty on it,because iv seen alot of cars that get painted from lil shops and people they know who give them a deal, and in a little time, paint starts chipping and it looks like ****
