PRICE CHECK - Moonroof & Window side moldings (99 Si)
alright, so it's a 99 civic. ive noticed a majority, if not all, of civics of this generation has peeling on the window moldings to where you can just see chrome or rust. (the horizontal black part that sits infront of the driver/passenger side windows; on same level as the sideview mirrors)i just recently replaced them..they came out to $70 a piece plus labor. I need to replace the moonroof because it is also peeling from the top. I got a quote for $250.Wow.
$70 a piece plus labor!?!!?!?
Man I just replaced mine myself
It cost me $30 from the dealership for the parts and then putting it on was free.
Not hard at all.
My friend just peeled off the black molding to expose the chrome on his car and now i wish i would have done that instead.

i dont know how to remove the moonroof/sunroof cover.damn, i should havejust inquired with the dealership first, but i thought the dealership was the last place to go as i hear they rape you with their price and labor.
Why ask them to do something like that when you can simply pick up a haynes or chilton manual and take care of it yourself
Of, if you feel adventurous, just look around for screws, bolts, adhesive and just go to town on it, haha, not really
But I mean come on.
The parts deparment can be your friend most of the time, and when their prices are somewhat steep i'll check out hondapartsdeals.com and I have saved quite a bit of money there too.
But seriously, you can't just blow off the dealership. Sometimes they do have decent prices on parts and those parts may even come with instructions (not all the time though)
But yes they do pretty much rip you off on labor.
Shop around man!!!!! Don't just go to one place and settle for a price, otherwise you are going to be ripped off your whole life.

LOL. I just repainted mine myself with some painters tape, newspaper, duplicolor flat black, and a clear protector coat.
Same with my side mirrors and my windshield wiper arms.
