Im also from NY and if im not mistaken the legal limit is 30% opacitiy.

i had 20% before on my last car and it was a little bit to dark for my liking and the cops didnt like it much either.

This time around im going with 27% if i can find it or 25%.

 

All this talk about tint, I did my car today. I will try to post pics when I get a camera. (mine broke) I put 20% on the back and 35% on the front. I did it in my friends garage this morning. It took about 3 hours to do 4 windows. They came out perfect but I didnt attempt to tint the rear window. I think I will have the professionals take care of that. Just make sure to remove the bottom trim on the window so you can tuck the tint under for a better look.

In Florida, i think the legal limit is something around 20%, i got 15% and havnt gotten in any type of trouble yet. I dont really have to much trouble seeing at night, but maybei might have just got used to it

 

YeaI live in Florida and my old civic had 5% but it was way to dark for me to see at night so my new car will probably have 15% here's some pics if you wanna see
