so the salt doesnt get to them, and with low profile summer tires..it wouldnt handle to great in the snow

yeah the salt can take a number on rims as well as sliding out into a curb is just as much a reason to me. It is sort of fun to rip roar around the snow in winter tires though.

 

i was under the impression a great deal of the rims seen on this site were aluminum... and as such, not subject to rusting in the traditional form... i mean aluminum does oxidize... but alumina is harder than aluminum (hence why anodized aluminum has a tougher surface than just brushed or milled aluminum)

 

i just took my wheels off for winter and mine and yours car look just alike but mines 2 door

Some snow can be fun...up here in canada lots of snow isnt so much fun. Always pack a shovel
