Default shift boot collar

So I installed the 99-00 cupholders on my 97 civic and found the plastic ring that holds the shift boot up. Its was in 6 pieces under the shift boot. I dont even know how something like that could break into little pieces. Anyway does anyone know where I can find one?

The stealership didnt know what I was talking about, and the parts diagram I found doesnt have the shift boot or this little plastic thing on there.

If it is not a necessary part how else do you hold up the shift boot?
Thanks.

I may just go to the junk yard and see if I can find one there.

I found this shift boot adapter http://www.strutking.com/rsx/shift-b...r/prod_22.html

Anyone know if that will fit 97 civic?

so yeah it does fit 9 civic I emailed the website, new shift boot stays up much better than the old one so I will probably wait. passwordjdm has one too for like 45 dollars. That is crazy. I think you could probably just use a nut and a big washer too, that would be like 50 cents.

Thanks for listening, lol

zip ties or a rubber band works

Actually the rubber ring at the top of the boot you sent me holds it in place quite well by itself.

if you just want the boot to be held up simply use a zip tie or electrical tape on the shifter rod and then simply pull the console part up and tape it up and then put the console back over the shifter.
quick easy and cheap!
