steering wheel air bags

i have a 94 si hatch and i want to but a better steering wheel but i'm not sure what to do with the air bag will it affect any thing except the airbag is it legal

It is illegal to remove the air bag.

it is illegal to remove the airbag, but what one of my friends did was change his steering wheel with a 2005 civic steering wheel. He still had the airbag and still gave it a newer look.
