I am getting a Type R grill for x-mas. my car is black. i see they all come in abs black paintable. I do still need to paint them with like a gloss black to match my car or do i just leave it un-painted?

Depending on the black it comes in you may just be able to clear coat it, but I doubt that will look. I'd just have it painted, should cost too much as it's a very small part

ya i would get it painted because it would look a little left out if you left it the abs plastic color

well if you wish just get some spray paint thats as close to it as you can get and just spray paint it after puting alot of paint layers on it simply lightly sand it and buff it to a shine and maybe alittle clear coat spray after that. ans sand it smooth again.

or you could check out your paint shop and have em mix ya up 1quart of paint and clear and just buy a little paint gun and paint it yourself

worst you can do is mess it up and just sand the paint down smooth by hand and redue it

thats what i plan on doing cause i want quite a few parts painted stock black for my civic.... a cheap spray paint gun should work fine.... just play with the settings and technic on some large area of paper or cardboard or what ever junk ya have around

either way final prep after its good and dry you should lightly sand it with some very fine sandpaper and buff it out with some fine rubbing compound for the best smoothest shine!

well if ya have it painted take em all the parts ya need painted all at one time.

id asume that a place would charge ya more money in materials than time... dealerships usualy have a outside guy do thier work.
