uphostery how do i do it!
I want to change my interior a little with some upholstery. just black and grey maybe black and goldish tan if i can get rid of all the grey but, i think im just going with the grey. anyway how do i do it. does anyone here know how to do it and if so can u tell me how to or at least what tools do i need. i have some stuff to practice on first and all that. i know there is some glue stuff but where do i get it and can i get it in a rattle can and not have to use a compressor and spray gun?
it all depends on what you want to do..your headliner? seats?, some things like a headliner are pretty easy, you just pop it out, cover it in 3M spray adhesive and put your new fabric over it..you can do that with alot of things, but then when it comes to seats your going to need to do alot of sowing and memsherments....oh ya, and if you have a spray gun already..there is a industrial spay adhisve that is top on the line you can get but it needs a gun
I redid the interior on my Bronco. Painted everything. (the seats werent redone though) The dodges seat has been recovered and a new headliner too.... ill try to post some pics sometime.
If you are serious about re-doing the interior one of the key things you need is either your own sewing machine that can handle thick material or a good seamstress... Pull a seat out, pull the covers off, remove the stiching and use the old material as a pattern, trace it onto a piece of paper (remember to label/organize the pieces to ensure proper fitment) then cut along the pattern, sew along the lines (or have someone do it) and slide it back on and lace up the bottom... That's the easy way... If you had all the materials, sewing machine etc. you could probably do a seat with high quality work in about 4-5 hours I would guess....
im not going to do the front seats but the back yes. so i take the cloth off of the back seat and use it as a templite<<don't know if i spelled it right. anyway i want to wrap everything in black and grey tweed. door panels the top of my dash, A pillars, all the plastic in the back and i found a place on the net once where they made carbon fiber head liners which i think that would be cool but i didn't book mark it so ill have to find it again but i think im going to do that and yes i have my own spray guns i have four of them. one cheap one two semi good ones and my $600 dollar sata. but the sata is for painting not that but the others sure ill use them but will the 3m work just as good or no.
