Default vtec sticker???

i have a 98 civic EX and my valve cover does not say vtec but my block says d16y8 or something along those numbers and letters. does that mean my engine is a vtec? my car is silver in color if that matters. it doesnt have any vtec stickers on the side. and im wanting them..would that be ugly or stupid to buy and put them on the sides of my cars. if so. i would want to buy black vtec stickers if they make them? let me know thanks im confused.

the d16y8 is a vtec powerplant. and the stickers you want can probably be found on ebay.

On the EK chassis (96-00) only the 99-00 Si's had the DOHC VTEC stickers on the side. Also, only the 92-95 VTEC engines have VTEC written on the valve cover.

So, if you really wanted to, you could get a valve cover from a 92-95 EX/Si civic and replace your with it, as they are interchangable!!

Also, please don't get a DOHC VTEC sticker for the side of your car. BUT, you could get a SOHC VTEC Sticker for your car. I did!!

Check this for reference:

Yes, and the JDM D15B valve covers. Not all 92-95-EX/Si Civics (D16Z6) have VTEC written on the valve cover.

To the OP: you can find those valve covers on ebay easily.

Funny you mention the decals, I just ordered some for my Del Sol 2 days ago. It's the SOHC VTEC Decal. In the listing it lists colors that you can specify if you don't want the black. I think you should go with black though. Here's the link.

Awesome, it's nice to see that they are finally on fleeBay!! I had to make my own template (in the link I posted earlier) and had a local decal shop print it off on vinyl.

you should get black. I got silver because my car is black. Black on black would not be easy to read.
