i have the afformentioned contact lens, and i was wondering if the 2 weeks wearing time is real, or whether it's just marketing BS attempting to make me spend more money than i need to. i've gone through 2 pairs (currently on my 3rd), and this is my 15th day wearing them. what's your take?

 

its bs. I wear contacts, prescribed from my doctor. I get 12 pairs. One pair lasts me a month. So every month i change them.

So 2 weeks for per pair sounds like they are ripping you off

its different for different material contacts. i used to wear Acuvue Advance contacts. saw 2 different doctors and both said 2 weeks is the normal time period for those. well somehow i became allergic to those contacts and now i wear daily contacts, put in a new pair every day. its not good to wear them longer thanabout 15hrs, begin to dry eyes horribly. 2 weeks is probably fine, any longer and they may begin to gather bacteria and deteriorate..

 

I have acuvue2 lenses... one pair usually lasts me a month or two before they start drying out faster and I replace them. Trust me, you can go longer than 2 weeks with them (unless they get uncomfortable to wear, in which case replace them)

 

i have the acuvue 2 and i no i no i shoulldnt but im in college and lots of nigths i come back and ususally "fall asleep" right away and i dont take them out. But even before college, i didnt take them out and i just wear them until they start losin focus. usually last about a month and a half for me. My eyesight hasnt gotten worse so yea thats whats up

 

its recommended 2 weeks for a reason but its not horrible to wear them for longer than that. i usually wear mine for about a month or 2 then get a new pair. they are too expensive to throw away every 2 weeks.

on a side note my eyes actualy got a hair better since the last tme i was at the eye doctor WOOT!!!

 

i have the acuvue2 contacts too. I take them out every day but have worn them for a week when I was on vacatio and didnt bring my saline or anything. When I get tired and my eyes dry out, the get uncomfortable. Just get in the habit of taking them out every night

 

Just wear glasses, they make you look smarter.

 

update: so i'm starting my 5th week with the same contacts....

do cornea infections occur immediately, or over time? what are signs? like every morning, my eyes are red from waking up, and after like 20 min or so, they're white again, and that's when i stick in my contacts. then again, i'm hella tired when i wake up, so that might explain why they're red...
