I would never own a VW/AUDI as a DD... but that's just me

whats your price range? you should be able to pick up the last gen WRX for under 10 grand.

after all those negative posts, vw still has a lot of problems but if you still want the audi, then check out audi performance racing. http://www.goapr.com/Audi/index.html they make real good stuff.

thanks ef, I am definitely going to go with the WRX, great stock power and reliability. I read alot of reviews for the TT and they weren't very good. Plus I would have to drive two hours for the closest audi dealer so..........WRX here I come.

Scooby wrx's have there fair amount of problems too, ive seen a couple go ker-boom, and heard of plenty more, I would spend a little more on an evo.

the 02 WRX's are going for cheaper than I thought, around 14k so I've got my sights on finding one for sure. As soon as I find a good deal I'm getting one.
Personally, if I had $14k set aside for the car, I would either get an M3 ('95, because it's OBD1 and hence more moddable) or 300zx TT (which is one of my all time favorite cars. Like someone said, VW cars are unreliable and have a lot of electrical problems, but you can make a GTI or TT really fast for relatively cheap. As for WRX, you did say you want a daily driver - this car is stiff, interior is crap and styling is very questionable imo. Transmissions on those cars are known to have weak 1-2 synchros. I would rather go for an evo, even though I hate mitsu. BTW, for a daily driver, I'd rather get a sedan, not a sports car

Hell in all reality for that pricerange I would put my *** into a super nice 99/00 SI or a late 90's 4 door GSR. You get down to it a 00 ITR can be had for that with low miles and hold it's value better than all of em.

go for the WRX. their cheaper than the STi's and EVOs (like duh) and make insane horsepower if you put enough money into it.

a stock WRX goes 0-60 mph in about 5.5 seconds. a few cheap mods and you can knock off a few 10ths.

a few thousand dollars of drivetrain mods and you can get the car down well in to the 4 second range.

the turbos on the WRX come stock with a relatively low amount of boost, so there's lots of PSi to play with.

the cars are also rally-bred, which means they can take a beating.
