If this is your first bike buy something used. Cause you will probably end up dropping it or something and it won't hurt as much on a older bike as a brand new one. But I like the GS500f

CBR600RR...
plus a billion seventy six. second choice would be a GSXR and an R6 after that.

Since we're on the topic, does anyone know a good website for finding used bikes in your area? Sort of like cars.com, exept for motorcycles....

get an older katana. comfortable riding position, more than enough power to learn on, and they're fairly inexpensive.

btw, everyone.. I've searched arounda good bit now.. almost every single used bike (that I'd want... I'm very picky lol)within 300 miles of my house has massive road rash, missing handlebars/footpegs, etc.and the ones that don't are the Hayabusa 1300's and other bikes that are way to powerful for me.

eh, anything past 750cc is worthless imo. Unless you want a straight line bike. For a track bike - 600cc is where it's at.

I have a dirtbike and thats what i learned on and its not the easiest thing in the world to get down perfect. Your gonna want to ride for a while on that dirtbike cuz crotch rockets have a lot of power and its a whole different ball game. Make sure your 110% comfortable before you start riding the rocket.

Yeah, I know... my friend's dirt bike is only like a 250 compared to the 500cc sport bike I'm gettin... I can't get the bike 'till the end of this summer, so I'll have plenty of time to practice all summer.

I think I'm gettin the gs500... it seems to be the general concensus, and personally, I like the gs's full fairing compared to the ninja's tiny little lower fairing (it looks a lot sportier)... I think after the warranty's expired, I'm doing an '06-'07 R6 tail conversion and metallic gunmetal paint job... I want my bike to stand out, but in a subtle way if that makes any sense.
