to be honest, i don't know how cf could be considered rice. if we are classifying rice as ****tily mods done for cheap, cf as a material is so expensive that ricers couldn't afford to use it. a while ago i was watching a show and a university re-created the wright brothers plane with a cf frame and the thing flew figure 8's for miles. i'm actually designing a search and rescue robot for department of homeland security research, and theres a good chance we will be incorporating cf into the frame because of it's strentgh and weight. say what you want, it's a damn good material

 

I have some, but the JDM chopsticks are jade so I sold my CF ones on e-bay for $1,200.

 

Don't forget to put a HCF sticker on that bot.

CF is most DEFINITELY not rice.. Carbon fiber "look" = rice. Some kid told me his entire interior was carbon fiber the other day. I said, "thats wierd" i point at the spot right before his passenger side window, "last time i checked carbon fiber didnt peel"

 

also most of your carbon fiber hoods ppl buy for $250 and $400 are just a fiberglass hood with a carbon fiber overlay on it, if the hood was 100% carbon fiber the hood would cost about $1500.

I work in the parts department at Chysler/Dodge/Jeep and to buy a primered OEM replacement CF hood for a 1997 Dodge Viper is $20,571.20 plus tax (which here in Maryland is 5% so the total with tax would be $21,599.76) and that doesnt even come painted!!!

it was quite humorous. He of course stumbled and tried to explain why that part was different from the rest of the "authentic cf," but i think everyone there knew he was full of crap.
