Every pound helps
While it is true that lightening your car will help, the price of a CF hood does not equate to any real gains. A CF hood saves like 10-20 lbs, thats gonna give you .02s on you 1/4 mile. Is that worth the $300-$400 it costs?

Unless you have crazy mods and nothing more to do then it would end up being a better idea.

CF hoods for weight reduction is pointless. I have a vented one to hopfully keep my turbo a but cooler and allow cooler air into the engine bay. Most CF hoods have a fiberglass skeleton underneath that goes against the whole weight reduction idea.

If you do decide to paint it just think... you paid 300-400$ for the hood just to spend another 100$ painting over somthing that did absolutly nothing for your car. You would save more weight taking out your spare tire.

Anyone seen the CF hoods that aren't black? Like, you could get a red one or blue or whatever. My first thought is that they would look fruity, tho I have never seen one in person.

My friend has a RED cf hood on his RED EG Hatch and it looks amazing. It really matches his color well. If he a different red I dont think it would look as good but the color very closely matches his body color Ill see if I can find a pic.

Nope...you asked why someone would buy one...I just stated why....even though I think weight reduction is lame unless all you're using your car strictly for is the strip. I drive my car everyday and would never buy a single CF piece let alone gut out my interior.
