Cobalt SS... midlife crisis?
My brother is the potential candidate. He is 52 years old, been working for GM the last 28-29 years. Anyway, he's always ridden saddle bag cruiser bikes, owned a Cadillac Eldorado, a 94' Vette, and his most recent rides, Cadillac Escalade and a 2003 Monte Carlo. So I go over to visit him Saturday and he is in the process of buying a new car and he wants me to follow him back to the dealership for pick-up. Lo and behold when we arrive, he pops the locks on a 2006 red on black/red Chevrolet Cobalt SS. He was going to go to another dealership for a blue on black/blue, but they offered to throw in a motorcycle for free if he bought it that day! That's right, free. I have to admit it's pretty slick. 209hp, 5-speed, 18-inch five star wheels, XM satellite, ONSTAR....Spoiler is a little big for my tastes... He let me take it for a spin and it would so blow my Civic away. Chirps real good in second and I got up to 120 fairly quick. Gearbox is notchy, not butter smooth like my Civic. It's a cool car, he just shocked me with this purchase. [sm=jawdrop.gif] He's kind of out of date with being "hip" and that sort of thing. I think maybe he just doesn't realize what class this car really appeals to. I know I know, people buy what they like yeah yeah... but if you knew him, you would just have this confused look on your face...like [&:]... believe me. But I have to say, the Cobalt SS is nice, and a fairly quick little ride.
LOL! I don't think the exterior on the SS looks that bad with the wheels and lip kit that come with it. Now the lower trim levels are just plain ugly. And the interior on the SS is pretty nice actually. Black and red leather complemented with red leather door inserts. The dash is cheapened by the plastic aluminum dash attempt though. The steering wheel is small for quicker response and turn in, felt pretty good. Radio controls on the steering wheel as well. It's turning radius sucks real bad, about like an 18 wheeler. He purchased the extended 6-year 90k mile bumper to bumper warranty, I just don't see him keeping it that long though.

except, that if my midlife crisis car is a god damn supercharged cavalier...it must not be much of a crisis...
