Default Custom exhuast diy

I'll be doing some exhaust work sometime in anuary and was wondering if there's interest in seeing how to make a custom exhaust under $200 that doesn't sounds like *** and isn't ghetto-rigged....oh and did I mention it doesn't require welding? If I get interest I'll document it, if there's no interest than I'll just spend less time screwing with it...

Do a documentary. You might never know what you can learn or who might need it.

Good Luck Man

Just in case you didn't know many domestic vehicles from the early 90s came with exhausts that were not welded together...they were bolted together There are V-band clamps, U-bolts, torctite clamps, and exhaust couplers all of which can do a good job in connecting two pipes together without welding. I had a U-bolt exhaust on my caravan which was both a royal pain and a blessing since I kept busting mufflers over snow banks....if it was welded I woulda been screwed by an exhaust shop...

I'd love to read it and try it myself, but isn't this in the wrong section?

actually it's not. It isn't about exhuast yet. It's about interest. When I do make one I'll PM a diy to someone. This will not be on a civic, but it applies to all cars...

Have you already got the price list down? If so, I wouldn't mind knowing what you have picked out for an exhaust, etc.

It's rough. We're looking at 10' of 3"aluminum pipe that's $40 at Home Depot
A magnaflow muffler that's $57
A silverline resonator that's $48
A bunch of 3" mandrel bends that I'm still sourcing locally and I don't expect to pay over $50 for all that I need and a bunch of torctite clamps around $35.

So right now I'm looking at $230 or the whole thing. I will do my best to keep it under $200. I'm going to try it with and without the resonator to see the difference. If it's not too loud and annoying without one that it's $48 less :-D

downpipe back...I already have a 3" downpipe and the exhaust is the natural progression. Actually I'll be doing this and upgrading my intercooler at the same time...and fabbing up an intake so that I can run stage3 software on my car...
