DETNEWS 25 JULY 2006 - - Next-generation Lancer Evo X hits test tracks

The Mitsubishi Concept X sedan from the 2005 Tokyo show provides a sneak preview of the Japanese automaker's next-generation Lancer Evo X, the latest in a series of rally-inspired high-performance compacts.

Due in model year 2008, prototypes of the production Evo X have been running on test tracks in several locations as Mitsubishi engineers test such hardware as active steering, active brake control, active roll control and an updated all-wheel-drive system.

Under the hood is a turbocharged DOHC 2.0-liter, four-cylinder delivering more than 300 hp and mated to a six-speed manual gearbox with paddle shifters.

The production Evo X will share its basic underbody architecture with a variety of Chrysler products, including the Dodge Caliber and the Jeep Compass.

I wish they were coupes.

 

thats just a powertrain mule used to fool people into thinking its an Exo IX, the actual production car will look similar to the X Concept.

 

what is it with all these cars being able to interchange parts and sharing bodies w/ each other. pretty soon there will only be one manufacturer and one model to choose from.

 

i think thats a little over ambitous, but it does save a lot of money.
