whp is power at the wheels. hp is at the flywheel, and BHP is at the flywheel with no accesories on the engine (but some poeple use hp and bhp as the same thing)

when a car is advertised as having "250 horsepower", which one are they talking about? And how do u measure each one?

hp at the flywheel. or bhp depends on manufacterer. but a lot of time now they underrate the cars, like the new civic si, and srt4 to avoid angry customers

I dont think brake horsepower is used in the states like it is used elsewhere

i know that in the UK, they refer to BHP as power at the wheels that actually get to the ground, and HP is refering to the power that is created at teh flywheel

They measure HP at the crankshaft.

I watched a documentary on this. They are super strict now. Sae corrected horsepower is measured by a company with standards on how the test is performed. Every company in the US is now measured the same way. So if it says 300hp you can bet its at least300hp at the flywheel.
