Emergency road trip!
I can't believe I just did this.
My roommate has been planning to move to Boston for a few weeks now. She was going to leave on Saturday but pushed it back until Sunday. Boston is about a 6.5 hour drive from here including stops.
Half an hour before she was going to leave, I was helping her carry stuff out to her car (a '94 grand prix) and I said, gee, it kinda smells like gas. She agreed, and said she had just filled up the tank all the way, which she doesn't usually do. Took a look under the car, and guess what... it was leaking gas all over the driveway. We dropped it off at Pep Boys, the only place open on Sunday. Two and a half hours later, they called back and told her it was leaking at the top and the side, so she could either drive it with only 1/4 tank, or get a new tank installed... on Monday or Tuesday. Of course she had to start her new job on Monday.
So I called my boss at home, asked if I could take an emergency vacation day, and he said yes. So we piled all of my roommate's stuff in the Civic and hauled @ss to Boston. Left here at 5, got into the city around 11:30, finally got to her place around 12:15 (we got really lost, wtf is with the lack of street signs there?) and I slept on the floor. This morning I walked around the city for a few hours and then headed out. MAN I am tired! 800 miles of driving in about 24 hours, 34 mpg all the way. It was a long trip but at least I got to spend some quality time with my car, I guess!
I'm going to go clean all the dead bugs off my car now. Cheers!

Tell your grandma that I'm not a boy! In case the Lisa Simpson avatar didn't give it away!

I'm sorry for that! I'm sure you're a very nice girl. LOL!
Karma is on your side, that was an awesome favor you did for your friend. And isn't it fun takin the civic on long trips? My favorite is the two lane twisties when you get to dump it into third from like 60 and just sail around people.
Ahh yes, Karma. Also I think I get out of driving the u-haul when she moves all her furniture out there in three weeks.
I do love taking my car on long trips, even if I'm by myself. And the thing is, I have another one planned for this coming weekend! Going to Ohio for a wedding, again another 400 miles each way. That 90,000 mile service is coming up faster than I expected!
