But I agree with the latter half of that statement, theres not much better than a nice smooth glass of good whiskey.I went to a Microbrewery with some friends the other night, and had some awesome beers. Have you beer guys ever heard of Founder's? (Especially those of you in Michigan) I'd seen it in a few convenience stores before, but never tried it. Man is it ever good. The Black Sunshine was very impressive.
be carefulwith home brewed! My neighbor used to brew, and he was phenomenal at it. A friend of mine, however, ****ing sucked and I literally almost threw up as soon as his beer hit my tongue. Ugh, that was awefule.
But yeah, for the most part dark beers are pretty damn good. The Black Sunrise I spoke of has a nice crisp, fresh, almost light taste, which is odd for a dark beer. For anyone who has ever had Oberon, this stuff was the Oberon of dark beers.

I know for certain you can get it as far south as Virginia, maybe NC. But it's mainly in the PA border states; NY NJ MD Delaware.

i am currently in the middle of my first stage of fermentation of my first batch...i followed the directions to a T, as well as tips given by the guys at the homebrewing store. im only hoping that its good enough to drink, so i can tell them what was wrong, and they can help me improve. [8D]

) and we can toss a few back!
have you ever tried? i am hoping that its good enough to drink...i have even called the store and run past them my current conditions, and they seem to think that all seems well. my primary fermentation went very quickly, and that worried me, but the guy at the shop said that sometimes it goes very fast, and sometimes it takes weeks...im looking at about a month before its ready, as i am doing two-state fermentation.
