Default Going on 11 hours....

So in case anyone cares....

I woke up this morning and realized it was my day off. Been dealing with some slight depression the past few days so I decided to start drinking. Well, I havent stopped since. So Im stumbling around the house today, bored to tears when I get an awesome idea....As some of you may know, my Greddy exhaust system has been making these annoying rattling sounds when my car is idling. So I decided to get my hands dirty. I wiped all the snow off my car with my bare hands (couldnt feel my fingers going numb), jacked the car up and removed the entire exhaust system. Yes, the entire thing! So here is what I did:

Wiped it clean
Inspected
Re-inspected
Had a few drinks
Starred at it for a while
Kicked it a couple times
Checked the forums for recent posts
Smoked like 12 cigarettes (now Im hurtin)
Etched my initials in the cat (now reads JDW)
Yanked my stereo out and replaced with a new Alpine
Checked forums again
Put my exhaust back on
Fired up my car while having another drink

The problem isnt gone. Probably cause I didnt do anything. I havent a clue as to what this rattling noise is and its really pissing me off. Anyhoo, Im still drunk and contemplating buying new hat. No idea why.

It sucks youre battling with depression, i used to go through that. It'll be ok minge! By the way...exhausts...especially GReddy ive noticed, rattle a lot. Mine did. Ended up being the heat shield on the catalytic converter. Ripped the sucker off and noise free! Or you could adjust your exhaust hangers cuz it may bump underneathe. *edit* BTW, your post made me laugh

Right out of the Haynes Manual...if that didn't work I don't know what would!

Sounds like a relaxing day. Hope you at least had a good time. I know when I'm feeling down it's always nice to get my hands greasy working on my pride and joy. =)

Edit: typo. =/

So when you say the heat shield....is it the actual heat shield that encases the cat itself? I ripped off the heat shield that was bolted to the car, right above the cat, but it still rattles. Not sure if thats the one you're talking about.

I know its coming from the front end of my car, I just cant pinpoint it. I posted a video clip of it several weeks ago, but here it is again. Thats the rattling noise I cant get rid of.

Thanks for the concern guys. Yes, the depression sucks, but I'll get over it...I hope. As long as I dont run out of gin I'll be good to go!

yeah thats too bad, I hope youre feeling better...the rattling must be really annoying, it sounds like its reverberating off the plastic bumper almost...

Nah, its definitely metal on metal, and coming from the front of the car. Actually, the rear section vibrates against the body...only when it rains, which is weird. I'll have to tweak the piping a bit to get some extra room for it.

meh, he said its comin from up front, mine used to rattle underneathe and on the bumper but i adjusted the hangers. Check up by the cat for anything, and its best to do it while its on. just dont touch!

for the rattling noise, my car does that too. I found out it was my shifter hitting the exhaust. After installing ES shifter bushings, it still rattled but not as much anymore. Just a thought.

Unless I add a little more gin to my tonic, then it wont matter.
