Default help with a head gasket

My dad and my mom both own their own 98 dodge stratus'. They both have the same problem now. They're both at 95,000 miles and are leaking oil and need a new headgasket. I was wondering if there was anyone who has had any experience with these cars could lend a word of could recommend a place to take them that wouldnt charge over 1,000 bucks to fix it.

if you take it to an independant shop it will be way cheaper than a dealership
