It's time to break this unhealthy chain. It is paramount that senior members, as well as Admins and Mods, refrain from participating in flaming as it sends the wrong message to impressionable new members and also chases away some good members.

I would just like to think people could be more mature than that. You can poke fun at people but know your boundries before hand. I remember along time afo when a dude named Ben came on. He was spewing utter crap about his car and I pounced on it. Yes it pissed him off but I settled him down also and he got into a comfort zone enough to learn from me and the other forum members.

Look at that I found it

Marty, you didn't have to drag Bennie into this I recall it was a rather ruthless flaming war between me and him at first... we still ocasionally talk.

Ron,

you'll notice that if I do flame someone it's going to be someone who absolutely expects it from me (i.e. another "senion member"... who the HELL came up with this utterly stupid term? We're all equals whether it be me, any n00b, any mod or admin or whatever. Really, big part of a problem is the separation between the so called "senior members" and the rest of the population). So basically if I flame Greddy_civic there's no hard feelings there at all. Sometimes I get annoyed if a n00b makes a Roto joke, but I usually leave it at that.

when a new member comes on and doesn't search or makes double posts i usually answer their question and then afterwards inform them of the search feature and that for best results they should try it first and then turn to it as a last resort, or that double posting is against the rules and to just remember that in the future.

i wasn't a jerk to 00integrals until he revealed that he made that thread up as a lie, just to **** us off. He's a troll

Moderators and Administrators have the authority to quash bad behavior and should continue to work toward accomplishing this important goal. Nonetheless, in my opinion, HCF members should also participate. I would ask senior HCF members who observe unnecessary flaming or rudeness to post a short polite comment that condemns the behavior. Note that such comments must not flame the flamer, as this would add to rather than help the problem; however, if you feel unable to post a non-inflammatory response, you should refrain from commenting and instead push the Report Button.

In this way, both staff and members could present a united front against rude behavior so that all new members may comfortably seek and give advice on HCF. If successful, HCF has the opportunity to become the BEST Civic forum on the web.
yes, use the report button for more then just spam messages

I can distinguish between members having good fun with each other and flaming. I think most would agree that the former types of interactions are a positive aspect of HCF, revealing some incredibly strong friendships among members. And, for the most part, I would not categorize you among members that mercilessly flame new or junior members.

..."senion member"... who the HELL came up with this utterly stupid term? We're all equals whether it be me, any n00b, any mod or admin or whatever.
Good point. In my opinion, the term senior member has little to do with post count and more to do with the maturity of comments made on the forum and an understanding that the forum should be used to learn, teach, and have respectful fun.

Really, big part of a problem is the separation between the so called "senior members" and the rest of the population). So basically if I flame Greddy_civic there's no hard feelings there at all. Sometimes I get annoyed if a n00b makes a Roto joke, but I usually leave it at that.
I agree. As mentioned above, it must be clearly understood that you can't treat new members the same way as you might treat your buddies.

"rock thrown"

just because you're you

although driftingfan, you do have a lot of vague posts and "welcome to the forum" posts....but thast besides the point. I think everyone can agree that the noobs don't have the same sense of humor as us guys that have been around for a while, and i htink that would steer me away if i was new the forum.
