I went to boot camp in the end of Aug. Best time to go! Reason why...

1) got home just for thanksgiving
2) got MCT cut short for Christmas
3) then i got more time off before i went to japan.

I left Aug 27'th. Get as close as you can to that date and the same thing should happen with you.

congrats! i was thinking about the marines..but the military in general is quite a change in life stlye..and i don't want to go patrol the streets of iraq. i'm in the process of joining the navy right now. i passed the ASTB and now just need to take a physical, pass the fitness test, and have a formal interview with an officer and i'm off to OCS in pensacola, fl to become and ensign.

Here is my views on the military life. I have been in the US Army now for 16 months. i am stationed at Fort Wainwrigt, AK. I absolutely love it. I love the fact of knowing that i have a mission and that i am a part of something that is bigger than myself. the fact that you have to rely on someone else to not only save your life but they rely on you as well to do your job right.
which is why i have have absolutely no sympathy for the soldiers in my unit that have been proccessed and court martialed and dishonorably discharged from the military for drug abuse. they come to me alking about how they army is trying to **** them when they're not. they tell me that the army screwed them. i tell them that they're full of ****. i tell them that they had to quit using drugs to enter the military so hat the hell in their right minds influnces them that they get to do it after basic and ait wen they arrive at their units. NOTHING!!!!! so if you're reading this and you're in the military and you're Seeing TDS monday to discuss with your lawyer the terms of your pre-trial agreement. i have no sympathy for you.
But i also, believe it goes frther than that. After AIT i went home for a special recruitment duty. I saw my recruiter have candidates taking the whiz quiz and poppin hot. and the recruiter just keeps telling them that they have to quit if they really want it. and its like the third month they've been pissing hot. i think they should dro you if you **** hot more than once and you can't come back for 2 years. thats me.
and its the same with the people who are in the military who are in violation of the army weight standards. i saw my recruiter tell soldiers to smear preparation-h on their waist and then wrap it with saran wrap and sleep with it. overnight anf they would lose 1 inch overnight. and they would pass it and be able to get in. the standards are significantly being lowered to allow trash to enter the militar. but the recruter has to make their quota.
sucks but its true.
I love my job. I love duty station. wouldn't give it up for the world. but with everything there are still problems. Right?
oh by the way i'm back its been a long time since i've been on here. I love alaska too. it's beautiful here. oh its august 12th and when i woke up this morning the temp was 37 degrees. wow!!! should start snowing in about 6 weeks the weather guy is saying
