i need antivirus help
 

out of nowhere my computer has a little pop up in the bottom right corner that says threats have been found and right after that it pops up as a big screen and says 67(now 94)threats have been found, and it also says privacy violation and one of my programs is sending my information to somewhere. all this is going on but my norton antivirus is saying everything is secure also my spyware is secure. if anyone knows or has seen anything like this please let me know

Spyware/virii usually change faster than the anti-virus/spyware definitions can be updated. That's probably why Norton isn't catching it. I would use Avast anti-virus, Spybot, Spywareblaster, and AVG Anti-spyware. Those are all excellent programs. Also, running them in Safe Mode will probably yield better results when trying to get rid of that malware.

You probably oughtta run 'msconfig' to see what's running at startup, and check for and weird filenames (usually DLLs) in windows/system32. Sort the files based on date created and you can see which files showed up around the time you were having problems.

could be a trojan...could be a lot of things that spyware/antivirus wont find.

try this first: go to moosoftand download "The Cleaner" run that.

next time...a little less pr0n. :D

hahaha with jameson, trojan or malware. Like he said try the cleaner. Then if that doesnt work, come back. And yea, lil less pRon

Run Antivirus/spyware programs in Safe mode. That will catch some of the malware that can't be deleted in regular windows.

However, sometimes they have to be run in windows because the virus only runs in normal mode

if your getting a pop up from a program you dont have its malware. i know a program that can take it off. It what i use at my work.
its pretty much guarenteed to get it all off, but you need a general computer knowladge to use it, you have to go into safe mode, and something with the registry. BUT it gets all of the malware,spyware, dns errors, etc off.

Hey thanks everyone, i just thought it was gonna be like a pop up that just wants you to download it, cuz the name of the pop up is XP anti virus and itll let you scan your computer but you have to download it to do anything else, and it was saying i have trojan, spyware, adware, dialer, backdoor, rogue, and worm. but i was thinking my computer would be pretty F**ked up if i had all that dont you guys think? but anyway im doing The Cleaner v5 as i type, thanks again for the inputeveryone andas soon as the scan is done ill let you guys know whats going on
