Default I officially hate AT&T...

... because I have no service whatsoever in my apartment. Or within ten f**king miles of it, for that matter. But don't worry, because according to AT&T's web site service map, I have service here. Trust me, I've checked it twice. Don't even ask me how the f**k I've been talking on the phone, because half the time I have literally zero bars. And when I do get that one occasional bar, it disappears faster than a potato chip at a fat guy convention. Not to mention the gray bars. What the f**k is up with the gray service bars, AT&T? They apparently mean nothing since when I get them, I still can't make calls.

Only another 9 months, 3 weeks of putting up with this crap.

How does AT&T respond to your complaint about the lack usable service in your area? Have you exhausted all possible avenues to resolve the problem with AT&T? Can you take your matter to small claims court?

haven't filed an official complaint... not really worth my effort considering I'd give it a 98% probability that they wouldn't do anything. It's just really annoying when I want to call someone but I can't because I have no service anywhere in the town. And I'm honestly considering switching to verizon when my contract is up... I'm pretty sure verizon people have service here.

I understand your frustration, but don't let them win by your inaction. I think you should at least make a few phone calls to AT&T. You are paying for a service that you are not receiving. At the very least, they should give you a refund. Make a phone call. You may be surprised and get some satisfaction. Good luck.

I just realized the flaw in my suggesting that you call AT&T with a phone that doesn't work. Correction: Find a public phone!

id keep calling and complaining also! try to get them to shorten your contract or throw it out completly!
i got sprint myself. i love my instinct phone. just wish the battery life was alittle longer! there solution to a longer life battery... give everyone TWO batteries... like ya let me just wip that out of my back pocket when i need it. thats not something i want to carry around all day long.LOL
but for my usage it lasts about 2 days of playing around on it from time to time.

Do you have a 2G, 3G or 2G/3G phone??

If you have a 2G/3G phone and the 3G tower isn't working in your area your phone will attempt to connect to the 3G down network because the tower still sends a "I'm here" signal. It won't go for the 2G unless there are no 3G towers near.

Sooo, again, if you have a 2G/3G phone you can manual go in and switch it to 2G only, 3G only, or Both. Switching to 2G will allow you use you phone finally but it is not as fast as the 3G network.

Here's the magic numbers to enter is your phone WARNING!! BE CAREFUL, THIS IS A TECH OPERATION THAT IF YOU PUTZ WITH OTHERS THINGS IN HERE COULD F YOUR PHONE.

Enter: 277634#*# (This puts you in "Phone Test Mode.")
Go down to and select: Modem Setting
Go down to and select: Network Mode
Again, go down to and select: Network Mode
Choose between Dual Mode, 2G only, and 3G only.

Try 2G only and see if that helps!!!

See Reaper, talking with AT&T might actually help!
