iFail =/
All righty. So I would've posted this friday, but I didn't get a chance, so here it goes:
Friday at like 5:15 I was on my way home from work. I was in a right-hand turn lane getting ready to make a right on red and there was a Ford Explorer in front of me. The Explorer started pulling out, and not thinking anything about it, I started pulling up and looking to my left to see if anything was coming. Immediately, I heard a grinding sound. Apparently, the driver of the Explorer had seen someone coming and hit the brakes; I grazed his driver's side rear corner. My mirror was broken off (good ol' non-folding mirrors), my fender pushed in, my door pushed in with the leading edge folded back, and my skirt is scraped pretty good, all on the passenger side. We called the police, and after an hour of waiting, the officer showed up and deemed an accident report unnecessary; I gave the driver of the Explorer my insurance info and headed home. According to my insurance, I'm going to be listed at-fault as the Explorer was stopped, but I don't have to pay anything for their car (though my premium is probably going to go up), but since I have liability, I have to cover my own damages.
The Explorer got away with a broken taillight and two 6-8" scratches from my mirror (I'd say less than $1k including labor to repair), and as I said, my passenger side needs some panels. No frame damage done, my door opens (after a 1/4" adjustment to the fender), and I have used a mirror on the way (which will be put on today since I can't stand not having three mirrors) until I can get better ones. Thankfully, my $400 rare-as-sh*t front bumper wasn't touched. Basically, I figure since I'm already replacing parts, I might as well upgrade, so I'm going to have '03/'04 Cobra mirrors and side skirts in the next few months. I'll have pics posted probably sometime today.
Completely my fault as I wasn't paying attention, so the moral of the story is don't assume another driver did anything. Now I just have to decide if I should pay the extra money to have my whole car re-sprayed.
*edit: for reference,

Of course. The mirror just showed up at the dealership... then I cruised through CL ads looking for a door or a fender. Found a door in Redfire (dark red) with the window motor, regulator, tinted window, and mirror for $150. Maybe I can get him to sell it without the mirror for $100 lol
The damage isn't is bad as it should be but at the same time it's worse. I caught the Explorer at just the wrong place on my car (right on the gap between the fender and door) and completely ruined both the door and fender. The good news is I have the mirror on-hand at the moment, so it'll be on the car today, and I found a door for $150 with everything (including the mirror. Should've checked CL before buying the mirror), so I need to call the guy about that. If he doesn't still have it, I have another guy with one and fenders that I'll need to call.
Pics will be up tomorrow. I don't have the internet at home and I don't have my phone's memory card SD adapter with me at work, so I can't upload pics right now. Oh, and as of Friday around 7:00 (after I got off the phone with insurance), the car has Hello Kitty band-aids on some of the scratches. They fix everything

Just realized I took pics with my camera and uploaded them on friday night. Anyway, pics of the carnage. Like I said, not much damage, but more than you'd think considering I hadn't even let the clutch the whole way out in first (meaning I was going like 3mph).

And the new mirror is already on the car

Oooh ouch...ur fast to have found all the replacement parts tho its impressive haha a guy around here just ceran (sp) wraped his fender and stuff (totally not joking) after he hit a parket bus. It completely like peeled back his pass side fender all the way to the door. cost him like $500 to repair (It cost so much cause it tore the door off the hinge and damaged the pillar) and it was uselss cause its like a 95 saturn something haha the car is worth barely more than $700 anyway haha anyway nice job tho finding all these parts so quick tho Reaper!
D'oh. Hate to hear and see such damage to the 'ol stang man.
At least you are able to get her fixed up pretty quick. I wanna see pics of the new parts on the car when they come it. Should look real clean.

Well I'm still looking for the Cobra parts. For now, I'm happy with my factory replacement mirror, and I need to make some calls on the door and fender. The skirt is just scraped up, so I'll live with it until I find a Cobra skirt. Also, I have tax and titling to handle this week, so we'll wee how I am on funds after that. At least the value of the car decreased on Friday so taxes shouldn't be as high, right?
