Jack vs. Ramps

Which one do you prefer? Im either getting a really nice new jack or a set of ramps for my car because they would come in very handy. Is either one safer? Does one of them work better?

Well it depends on what kind of work your going to be doing, if you doing work where it is required to take the wheel off, then jack stands, if it is just engine work then ramps would be fine, but you could also use jack stands for that, so i would say jack stands over all.

i like jack stands just because i dont like burning my clutch on ramps and i always feel unsafe riding up on ramps..also if ur car is really low then u'll have to set up some wooden planks to inch ur car up onto the ramps.

depending on what i'm doing i use both, but it's very hard to use jacks on a lowered car. i have to use my spare tire jack to lift it high enough to use my floor jack, then i can put the car on stands. does anyone have a better way of dealing w/ this?

My car's too low for either one...so I'm stuck with using a 2 ton jack under rear or front suspension parts and than stands...

I had to use jack stands. The civic was too low for ramps. Plus as civicexracer said, nobody likes a burnt out clutch. And i had to buy the smallest floor jack they had to fit under my car.

I have the racing billet aluminum craftsman jack which is pretty low profile. Its light weight and can fit under a lowered car.
