kitties
well, as you all read before, i have a 13 year old cat. shes very nice and loves people after she gets to know them. well tonight i just brought home 2 small kitties that are litter buddies. they are both boys and love to play, but like i thought, she didnt take to kindly to them and makes some unhappy noises. the one kitty is ok with her but the other lashes back the same as my older cat does...can anyone that has had an experience with this tell me if they will get used to each other? or will this last forever?? patrick?? anyone?
we had the same problem when we got a new cat, we kept them in different rooms for a little wile..then just let them toughter, they will still be at eachother for a bit, but it takes time...we also have a door with glass in it, so u can see through it, we put one cat on one side and one on the other lol
it sounds like the cat who lashes back at the older one is competing for the dominant role. in my experience of owning tons of cats, they may or may not get over it. when we introduced a male kitten into our house, one of our older female cats immediately picked on him. once he got bigger, he got revenge. he never stops picking on her. i would make sure to supervise the two cats when they are around each other. and maybe keep them separate if you're not home.
ok, when i moved in with my lovely GF, she had one cat (5 years old) and one stupid scruffy dog (3 years old). i left 2 cats of my own back home that my mom and dad wanted, but ill get to them in a minute. once i moved in, we got a new kitten, a DSH male. at first, pheaton (the adult female) wanted NOTHING to do with the kitten. the dog was all for having a kitten to play with, but the kitten, who was very young, wanted NOTHING to do with the kitten. the kitten was care free, and after about 2 weeks or so, she went into full maternal instinct mode. no nursing or anything, but she would clean him, etc. they get along fine, and after a few more weeks, the kitten got used to the dog,and they play CONSTANTLY (dog and kitten). after about 6 months, i found a stray. full grown DSH male, and he was the nicest stray, and one of the friendliest cats ive ever seen, so we had him checked out, and kept him. the female was instantly against him. growing, etc. she still goes out of her way to F with him, but he is about 2 years old, so he is basically full grown. he is a non-alpha personality, so he hasnt been an issue, although he hates the dog, and will have nothing to do with it. the stray lays around all day and sleeps, but once a night, for about 15 minutes, he goes into this sort of stalking mode, and we have to seperate him and the kitten, who is now pretty big. when our female was getting acclimated with the kitten, she would grown when it came near, and mostly, she would avoid him.
adult females will generally take to a kitten in one of two ways; they will become territorial, or become maternal. the maternal thing took ours, like i said, a few weeks. just keep an eye on them to see if the adult female should become aggressive. ours never got aggressive, but made alot of nasty sounds, and just acted very defensive. she yours had kittens?
my cats back home are another story. i had one adult female, and i found a wild kitten. we got him his shots and so forth, but he was very very young, and the vet told us that he was not a DSH, and that he had some breed of wild cat in him. it sounds odd, but he is bigger than alot of dogs. he is completely an alpha, even with people. he attacks guests, and i had to pull him off of my friends dog for fear that he was going to kill the dog. our female back home, and the big cat, named artie, get along, so long as the female stays in line. he has also attacked my mom and dad a few times, but as long as they do what he wants, he is very nice, and he wont mess with me. once i moved away, thats when he became the king of the castle. he does things liek claim beds, and if youre in that bed, youre in for a world of hurting. they dont fight, but they play alot, the only issue is that artie is very very big, and is roughly twice the size of the female, so he hurts her, but when he was a kitten, there was an obvious maternal instinct displayed by her. maternal instinct is the far more common occurance.

they are 2 little kittins run around and when they get close to her... she does some deep moaning and a bit of hissing but she seesms to be a bit more relaxed around them today..no actual batting or hitting from either parties
like a low deep growl? thats what our chunky female did for a while with the kittenm, but now they sleep curled up together, but she does seemed threatened by the adult male...but i think that hes gay, because ive never seen him trying to catch a piece, but then again, she is chunky...maybe he needs a few beers before shes good enough to mount...
how is your female doing? i know that she was sick for a while?
