thanks guys me and sherrie talked and she understands what i'm trying to do now. its like i said he takes stuff for granted and tim he already knows that without me they wouldn't have anything i mean i try to be nice but that has its limits. and to ben ive never attacked him just told him in a nice way but thats the thing all i want is respect and i'm not getting that so i told him if he can't respect me i can't respect him .and living with his grandmother is one of the reasons he's spoiled sherrie had him when she was young and her ex is a *** and beat her so she divorced him after she got away from him. she would go out and be with her friends and leave michael home with her mom so i think thats why he doesn't respect people. ive tryed for 5 years we have had a few blowups and when we do i keep my cool he doesn't. he's 17 turns 18 in nov.the way i see it he's never had a father figure in his live and him and sherrie always lived with her mom he's never had discipline in his live and he doesn't know how to handle it .we have had many talks about this and i don't know what more i can do ive grounded him and took his tv /xbox /phone and i still get no respect

 

I would just leave the kid to his mom. You wanted good for him and he doesnt know how to appreciate, why bother? Parents has got be one the same side no matter what (kids will think they're doing it right when they have either mom or dad on his side). Talk to your mom and let her deal w the kid. I mean you've done most the things you could for her kid.

 

hey darryl im sorry to hear about your situation. i know you try everything in your power to make things work and your a good guy. i hope everything works out good, but no matter what keep that head up man.

 

There's not much you can do at that age. Hang in there and know your doing the right things no matter what everyone is saying.

yea at that age there is nothing that you can really do. just keep being there for him, and some day if he really understands what you did for him then he will thank you for it. and BTW you were not in the wrong, he was. i hope everything works out man
