my 1st ticket
well, im 17 and have managed to go a year and 3 months without a ticket. last night about 11:30 i was headed home from sonic and not many people were out but i saw a cop and made sure i wasnt speeding. i wasnt but somehow i guess i forgot to look up at the redlight and i ran it. RIGHT in front of the cop. he flipped on his lights and came and got me. i was thinking ok, well i got pulled over for my corner lights being whitish/blue. no, he said boy you ran that redlight pretty good didnt you? i said i dunno did i? i mean i really didnt know. i mean i cant even remember running it. im soo pissed that this happened to me. i clearly saw the cop and just obviously wasnt paying attention to what i was doing. my stupidity....well does anybody know how many points and what the cost of this will be? i know states are different and stuff but just wondering they cant differ that much. im in alabama
i have this theory that cops actually cause more accidents rather than prevent them...
think about it, every time there's a cop sitting in the median on the highway, everyone slams on their brakes suddenly to "slow down" when most aren't doing more than the speed limit anyway... (this happened to my brother, guy in front of him was doing like 75 and slammed his brakes to go around 45, brother going 70 ran right into him from about 3 car lengths because he couldn't come to enough of a slow)
or people turn to look whenever a cop has someone pulled over, resulting in them swerving all over the road for a second (I actually saw a side swipe happen on the highway when someone did this)
or people pay so much attention to the cop in their rear view mirror or their speedometer that they stop paying attention to the road in front of them, and run a red light, or run right into the stopped car in front of them or hit the pedestrian walking into the street, or opening their car door (my neighbor died this way, some guy hit him as he walked into the crosswalk because the guy was too busy paying attention to the cop and ran the stop sign)
also, I find cops are probably some of the worst offenders of traffic laws... not signaling, not coming to complete stops, speeding, cutting people off, running red lights... all while driving around town to "uphold" the law
and before someone gives me the "their probably responding to a call", police need to use their lights before entering an intersection against the light... i'm talking not stopping or slowing down when the light turns yellow with plenty of time

NEVER question a cop on why they can break the laws but you can't. Last time I did that I ended up with my face against a brick wall while two cops patted me down.
