My Poor Car... :-(
Heres the story lol: (bear with me it might be long)
About 2 months ago i had my clutch and flywheel installed at a local shop (R&S Transmission). When they were done they called me and said that upon putting it back together they found that the slave cylinder had failed. So i had them install a new one (free labor). From the get-go i didnt really like the shop they didnt look like they took care of the cars. Once they were done with the clutch job, the throwout bearing was no longer squeling but there was still this knocking noise that had been going for the past few months. They said it was the input shaft bearing and so they fixed that next. so $1000 later i have what i think is a good working car. About a week later i'm driving in traffic and i go to push the clutch and it goes straight to the floor and stays there. AFter a couple pumps it came back up. So i go back to the shop just to be safe, and they say oh we must have not bled it enough so they bleed it and drive it and say its good. After this point the clutch never felt right again, like it didnt have the right pressure or something. FAst Foward a month. So last week i get off work and go to merge with traffic and it goes to the floor again and i almost get hit which pissed me off. So i call some friends down and we pop the hood and there brake fluid on the ground and the clutch master cylinder is dry. SO im like WTF did those guys do. So we find that there is a loose screw on the slave cylinder that was leaking and we tighten it, fill up the master, and i drive home. I go to the shop yesterday cuz i have a 3 month/3000 mile warranty on parts and labor, and they say "oh i must have forgotten to tighten the bolt." so they bleed it and tell me to see how it feels and the pedal still lacks pressure, especially for one with an aftermarket clutch. I look at the slave cylinder and the bolt that was leaking looks crossthreader so i tell him and he says no that how it is. So then why was it leaking? So i tell them and he says bring it back tomorow and well take a closer look. (keep in mind i keep having to call people for rides and walking to school=big inconveniance) so i bring it back and leave it there will i go to school and i come back and they tell me it must be the master cylinder. So i;m like wtf how can slave and master be fine for the last 96k miles and you work on it and suddenly both have failed. SO i tell take the car home and try and bleed it with a piece of hose and a cup of brake fluid and it wont stop blowing bubbles, and i check and find no leaks or anything. So i figure that it must be drawing in air on the master cylinder side (low pressure) therefor not leaking fluid. I call honda and they say the same thing so i spend $140 on a new master cylinder at honda. I put it on this morning after work and go to bleed it and same thing, non stop bubbles when you pump it. The pedal will build no pressure whatsoever and as soon as you touch it falls to the floor. Its almost like its being pulled down. So now im pissed off cuz i cant fix it.
I have to get it towed by AAA tomorow cuz it on my driveway and stuck in neutral obviously. Oh and by the way, when the shop was working on it last time they took a speed bump too fast and scraped my EVO 2. Then the guy proceeded to scratch my new dc sprts race header with a wrench, and finished the job by spilling brake fluid everywhere. Im done with this place its so frustrating but i need them to fix it cuz they did the original work.
Moral of the story: Dont go to a local shop unless they have positive feedback from multiple people and you know they do good work. When in doubt, there's always the honda dealership. It may cost more but in cases like this is worth it.
Hopefully they will take care of everything.
