damn straight. I know half a bottle will raise a full tank (on the C6 Z06, so around 15 gallons) of 91 to over 93, because you can definitely feel the difference in the Z06. The ecu in them is programmed to drop to a low octane table if you put less than 93 octane in it. so on 91, you can feel a pretty good drop in power, but with a full tank and half a bottle of Torco, it is definitely back on the high octane tables. But im more inclined to believe the claims from a company who clearly prints on the label that if you mix X amount of additive with Y amount of 93 octane, it makes Z octane. most are really vague, like"up to 7 points." yeah, its all averages. If you mix that bottle with 5 gallons of 85 octane, it might raise it 7 points, but if you figure the averages, and you mix the same bottle with 5 gallons of 91 octane, its not much higher than the fuel itself, so youll be lucky to get 1-2 points. the Torco says specific ratios. I know it works, and if I can find a lab to test it I will back up their claimed numbers.

97 octane-mix one bottle with 20 gallons of 93
104 octane-10 gallons of 93 octane
107 octane- 5 gallons of 93 octane

What kind of a deal is that?

 

for a booster that works? not too bad of a deal at all. race gas is $5/Gallon or more, here its 5.99 for 100 octane.

5.99(5)=29.95

then booster instead w/93

3.00(5)=15
15+9(half a bottle)=24

30 bucks for 5 gallons of 100 octane, or 24 bucks for 5 gallons of 104. thats a pretty decent deal, and if you buy it by the case, its even cheaper.

 

it also helps if youre car actually needs high octane...

 

Question, what if the car has minor mods (something like intake and exhaust)? Will putting in high octane make a little more HP, or is it going to run rich?

 

You won't run any richer if you have a higher octane. You can get a couple more HP out of your engine by advancing the timing.

 

the "need" for highe octane is dependant on your compression and timing, for the most part. on a fuel injected car, if youre running a stock air filter, as compared to an aftermarket CAI, the CAI may prove a slightly leaner mixture, but the computer should adjust to keep the car in the optimal range of ATF. however, if you had a "Chip", or aftermarket computer upgrade that alters the timing to boost performance, and work in conjuction with a higher volume of air intake, the higher octane fuel would be more beneficial.

for instance, my old white car has a compression ratio of around 8.5 or 9 to 1...i am putting about 350hp to the ground, on 87 or 89 octane...i have no reason to run higher, as the car is tuned to run on that gas, and when we tried running better fuel, or race fuel, it made no difference in performance...as even when it was tuned to run properly with the high octane, it still had low compression.
