Since the motorcycle wreck thread was really growing I decided to start this one, especially since I am going to be in the market for a bike in the next 3 or 4 months from now.

I owned BMW bikes for over ten years. If I ever get another bike it will be BMW. The brakes and suspension are the most important considerations on a bike. That is what keeps you alive. No other maker can compare in these areas. other bikes look cool and have lots of power and have a large following but if you are getting a bike at least look at BMW before you actually buy one.

What keeps you alive is respecting the bike... even fearing it a little. That, and other drivers not pulling out in front of you.

My first vehicle was a Ninja 1000. I have had many bikes since then, most recently a GSXR-750. I love them but I dont lose sleep thinking about them like I used to.

I got in a motorcycle wreck while I was in the Navy. A car turned left in front of us and I spent a month in the hospital. I still have a titanium rod in my femur (and a hitch in my get-a-long).

I got a 97 600 gsxr but I quit driving it because of that reason. I'll either wind up dead, in jail, with no licence or all of the above
