Opinons before I get locked up

I'm in SD and im going out for another try...I wanted the S10 really bad: 1) I like to hit up the desert in the winter, 2) I was thinking if I got it I could airbag it and drop a fat system into it. Plus when I was out yesterday there was nothin to choose from and it was only $6500 for an '01.
I'll update later if there are any new options

yeah dude, dont base what u are buying on what gets to you first....i made that mistake with the civic...as soon as we had paid for it a gsr owner that we were trying to work out a deal with called us and agreed with our offer...so i lost a gsr....it made me cry...
it seems to me that you want to just buy a car spontaneously. DO NOT do that. Do lots of research. Here are the cars I would look at if I had that kind of budget.
1.E36 M3. $13k could get you one with under 60k miles. This car rocked my socks off. It was also voted the best handling car in all price ranges by C&D sometime in the 90s
2. '02 WRX. Great handling, awesome power, AWD. The only thing I dislike about this car is a shoddy interior and ugly looks
3. mk4 VW GTI. Looks great, handles well, has decent power. It's also easy and cheap to make it really fast. I'm actualyl consider getting one for my next car. People say that VWs are unreliable, but after 3 years of ownership of my 2000 Jetta - the only thing I had to replace was a coolant temp sensor.
4. '00 Civic SI. Great handling, looks nice, excellent MPG.
5. Honda S2k. The ones in your price range are out there. However - they aren't practical, and they have no ***** in lower RPMs
PS. S10 FTL - it's one of the most worthless trucks I've ever seen. The only trucks I would get are toyota tacoma, nissan frontier and dodge ram 1500 with cummins V6 turbodiesel(you can pull your house with that)
