Ok most know I bought that hatch from the classifieds(yes the same one I have been working on). Well I bought it from him right, well he had bought it from a lady in NJ. He signed the back of the title when he bought the car but never sent it off. I tried to go get the title in my name and they said I needed to send it back to him and have him send it off to get it in his name then him send it back to me. Well I did it and he said he needed to send it back to the lady in NJ because they would not let him do it being there was no selling price in her writing. This was over 2 months ago. He does not respond to emails atleast he hasn't recently.

So I need to know is there any way around this to get the title back, I have his email addy and that is it. I am at my wits end with this crap, this is partly the reason I stalled work on the car.

 

Did you go to his place to pick it up? Hunt his *** down

See there is a prolem with that. I have what people like to call a anger management problem and if I get face to face with the dude I will be the one in trouble. I am just wondering if I could maybe bypass him and get a salavaged title or something.

 

Do you have a bill of sale? If you have a bill of sale you can go to the DMV and apply for a new title.
Thats what I had to do when I bought my old Jeep Cherokee.

did you carfax the vin to make sure it *really* belonged to a lady in new jersey?

 

No but that is a damn fine idea. That way I could just get ahold of her and have her send for a lost title and then send it back to me. Thanks MXS

 

well I don't think Carfax will give you contact info of previous owners, but it would say something like the date and location every time it was registered. Just so you could check out his story. Hopefully it doesn't say "reported stolen"
