ok this is a stupid question but im getting pissed of at everyone because they keep saying pwned. if heard of getting Owned but what is the point of Pwned? can anyone explain

A corruption of the word "Owned." This originated in an online game called Warcraft, where a map designer misspelled "owned." When the computer beat a player, it was supposed to say, so-and-so "has been owned."

Instead, it said, so-and-so "has been pwned."

It basically means "to own" or to be dominated by an opponent or situation, especially by some god-like or computer-like force.

"Man, I rock at my job, but I still got a bad evaluation. I was pwned."

OR

"That team totally pwned us."

 

its the same concept as 'all your base are belong to us' except it was a typo not a translation error

its also used as pwn3d because 3 has been used by 'hackers' (H4X0r$) as an E, and 3 is right above E anyway so it all works out fin3

lot of people say ownage as well, like they are beating you really badly and "owning" you

Haha my boyfriend used to play that warcraft game all the time when we first started dating, and his guy friends would play. And i never understood that game...

But I am pretty pro at PacMan for xbox. haha.

I never knew pwned came from that game tho.
