**** that! snakes rule! what kind of snake did you have that died greddy?
just for the hell of it, i figured i'd share some info on animal sounds that hasn't been mentioned. some tarantulas can make noise.

if you watch the pedipalps (smaller leg-like appendages flanking the mouth area) you'll notice them rubbing the mouth parts (chelicerae..the part with the fangs coming out). there are tiny spines that rub together and make a scratchy/hissing sound...they are called stridulation organs. taxonimists use them to help differentiate species and i guess genus as well.
