Default A question for all you computer people out there

I have a Dell Insprion B130 laptop, I just got this message that says my battery needs to be replaced. How long will it run till i need a new one? And will it still work if i have it plugged into the AC adapter?

Well as long as it holds a charge youll be fine. If its a lith-ion then the more you charge it the more itll wear out over time. Best way to use a battery is charge it fully and use it fully till its almost depleted. You dont want to keep charging the sucker if it only needs a small charge.

How long have you been using this laptop with the battery?

Currently I'm on a laptop and the battery has been dead for a year and I just run it off ac. It's basically a desktop replacement without all the clutter. I can show you a way to open up your battery, when it does actually die and replace the charging batteries inside for a fraction of the cost it will take to but a new one, of course you need simple soldering skills but all in all its simple.

did it only say your battery needed to be replaced? Other than the normal battery there is a CR2032 (or something like that kind) battery that also needs to be replaced if it goes. If it is the normal battery, it will run on the ac adapter just fine. If it's the other battery (CR3032) I think you'll need to replace it soon.

well a little over a year. I try to use the battey when ever possible. Well i mean i'm going to solder anything, i'll just save my money and by a new battery. so if i just run it off the AC adapter it should be fine for a while right? Heres a screen shot of what the message looks like.

Thanks for the screen shot. So, with that, you'll be fine indefinitely on ac power. If you planned on using it on the battery, you'll want to get a new one relatively soon.
